Production from a sample
Metal parts made from a sample
An old, worn or broken metal part but no drawing? We measure the sample, rebuild the CAD model and production drawing, make a new part – and keep the drawing for future orders.

When production from a sample makes sense
- A spare part the equipment maker no longer supplies
- An old part without documentation that is still needed
- An assembly in equipment under repair
- A product you take over from another supplier without drawings
- A sample you want to improve – different material, stronger or simpler

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do we receive the drawing?
Yes, you can receive the rebuilt production drawing and use it further.
Can the material be changed?
Yes – for example a steel part can be made in aluminium or stainless steel if it suits the function.
Do I have to bring the part?
For simple parts photos with dimensions are often enough; for complex ones the sample is best.
Manufacturing from a sample (reverse engineering)
Reverse engineering means measuring an existing part, rebuilding its CAD model and production drawing and manufacturing a new part. It suits spare parts no longer supplied by the original manufacturer, legacy components without documentation and products taken over from another supplier.
Alumnita engineers measure the sample, prepare the 3D model and drawing and, where useful, suggest improvements such as a different material or a more manufacturable design. The rebuilt drawing can be handed over to the customer and is stored for repeat orders. Parts are made by laser cutting, bending, welding and powder coating in our plant in Kaunas.
